ABOUT THE JUSTICE CENTRE

Who we are

Established in 2010, we champion the constitutional rights of Canadians through strategic legal action and public education.

We envision a free and just society where government power is limited by respect for human dignity, and every Canadian has the opportunity to thrive, dream, and achieve their fullest potential. Our mission is to protect and advance the constitutional rights and freedoms of Canadians through strategic legal advocacy and public education.

Our beliefs

Equality: We believe that every Canadian deserves equal treatment under the law—by governments and courts—regardless of race, background, age, gender, religion, political beliefs, or personal identity.

Expression: We believe every Canadian has the right to express their thoughts, beliefs, and opinions peacefully, without fear of censorship or punishment—freedoms protected under Section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Information: We believe a free and independent press is essential to democracy. The unrestricted flow of information, without government interference, is vital for journalism, education, and informed citizenship.

Autonomy: We believe Canadians have the right to make personal and family decisions—free from unnecessary government intrusion—as protected by Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Assembly: We believe in the right of all Canadians to gather peacefully in public spaces to express their views, engage in protest, and support shared causes.

Responsibility: We believe it is every Canadian’s duty to uphold, protect, and strengthen the rights and freedoms that form the foundation of a free society.

Your support empowers a national network of lawyers who defend constitutional freedoms in courts and tribunals across Canada. While the Justice Centre itself does not practice law, your donations make this vital legal advocacy possible.
